Job opening: Executive Director

The Rhode Island Democratic Party’s (RIDP) Executive Director’s primary responsibilities are to oversee all programs of the RIDP, build and manage the RIDP team, and lead party staff through special elections, general elections, and coordinated campaigns. The Executive Director is responsible for well-managed party programs that build the party at the grassroots level, strengthen its infrastructure, and effectively execute the vision of the Chair.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages communications, digital, finance, voter protection, compliance, data, field, organizing, and canvassing staff, including setting expectations and overseeing daily work output;
  • Implements the strategy and processes of the Chair and party leadership effectively and expediently;
  • Maintains close working relationships with various partners, including but not limited to the DNC, the ASDC, the Congressional Delegation, statewide officers, leadership of the Rhode Island General Assembly, and Democratic local elected leaders, as well as other national and local partners;
  • Ensures access to and provides updates for the VoteBuilder/VAN data system relied upon by Democrats statewide;
  • Serves as a spokesperson, as appropriate;
  • Works with the RIDP compliance officer to maintain an updated working knowledge of campaign finance, election, and compliance laws, and ensures that all party activities are compliant;
  • Manages the development and implementation of the Rhode Island Democratic Party’s annual strategic plan;
  • Supports Rhode Island’s city and town Democratic committees;
  • Recruits, interviews, and hires staff;
  • Partners with fundraising staff, the Chair, Treasurer, Finance Committee, and donors to create a robust fundraising apparatus and cultivate both large- and small-dollar donors; and
  • Implements the Delegate Selection and National and State Convention Plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of four years of campaign and/or related work experience; executive experience working on a coordinated, statewide, congressional political campaign, or with a state political party is preferred;
  • Experience managing a team;
  • Familiarity with developing and executing an annual budget;
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously under strict deadlines;
  • A responsive and positive team leader who thrives on versatility and constant new challenges;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills;
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, VoteBuilder, NGP/VAN, and Google Docs; and
  • An unwavering commitment to Democratic values.

COMPENSATION:

Salary range is $70,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience. Health and dental insurance coverage is available to the employee.
