STATEMENT BY R.I. DEMOCRATIC PARTY ON THE PRESIDENTIAL-ELECT APPOINTMENT OF GOV. GINA RAIMONDO AS NEXT U.S. SECRETARY OF COMMERCE
WARWICK, R.I. – “All of Rhode Island joins in congratulating Governor Gina Raimondo on her nomination as U.S. Secretary of Commerce by President-elect Joseph R. Biden,” said Joseph M. McNamara, Chair of the Rhode Island Democratic Party Thursday. “She’s been a fierce fighter for Rhode Island – as our state Treasurer and then, Governor – taking us through some of the most challenging economic times, high unemployment, and a gripping, deadly pandemic. And she’ll use those same talents to tackle the issues that lie ahead at Commerce.
“We all wish the Secretary-nominee and her family the very best of success in the years ahead,” he said.
